I just cross-compiled the hurd without any problems (OSKit-Mach, on the
other hand... <sigh> questions to follow after a few more attempts) from
i686-pc-linux-gnu using gcc-2.95.2 and a libc dated Feb 24th. I used:
# ../hurd/configure --disable-profile --enable-static-progs=ext2fs
--build=i686-pc-linux-gnu --host=i586-pc-gnu --target=i586-pc-gnu
