I doubt rms is thinking of that distribution, which, as you say, is way
obsolete and should be deleted.  (Maybe we should move regex.texi to
Gnulib.)  I suspect all he cares about is the regex source in Emacs.

So, should I recommend trying the gnulib regex files in Emacs?  Are
there known incompatibilities?  Or would the glibc regex be a better
bet?  (I doubt it, but.)

And, please remind me in general how the gnulib and glibc regex are
related at this point.  This time I'll try to put it in the manual for
our historical edification.  Last I recall, we (you) were submitting
tons of patches to glibc?
