Eric S. Raymond is the author of a famous essay called "The Cathedral and the Bazaar", which discusses the open source software approach as he envisioned it a couple decades ago. Eric holds controversial positions on a few subjects, many of which are off topic here. I'm guessing Branden disagrees with Eric on some.
