Ivan Kelly commented on BOOKKEEPER-769:
---------------------------------------
[~jiannan] by my understanding, your code has diverged significantly from
hedwig, so really, the internal yahoo branch has become the trunk for that
codebase. In the apache project, there has been virtually no movement in the
last year on hedwig, and even less on the cpp client. Fixing the license issue
doesn't change the fact that this code is rotting and isn't being built/tested.
Removing from the source tree, doesn't mean the code will be unavailable.
Git/svn keeps everything afterall. It does give a signal that this is
unmaintained code, because, it is.
> Remove hedwig c++ client from source tree

> The hedwig c++ client has not had any real code change since november 2012.
> It is not built as part of the main build. It is not tested as part of the
> main build. It is effectively unmaintained.
> In addition to this, it contains m4 files whose license status is unclear.
> I propose we simple remove it from trunk and branch-4.2. The license issue is
> currently blocking the release of 4.2.3. [~jiannan], [~farrellee], you were
> the last people to submit anything for the client. Are you using in
> production? Any objection to its removal from the main code tree?
