No, haven't tried that - to be honest, desktop environments leave me cold - but I'm trying to modernise what I use (partly because my long-learned keystrokes for icewm lead to catastrophic problems if I'm running qemu [ I get dropped to the qemu serial console ]) and I could almost get used to having jpg backdrops on each desktop. So, when I say runlevel 3, I usually mean in icewm, although I think my original build might have used fluxbox throughout. You've had these build failures in LO under kdm for some time ? Actually, that box is no faster than my phenom (modern AMD = slow SBU when single-threaded, but sometimes fast multithreading) but my SSD seems to give a slight benefit with -j5 and on that machine I only build one language - unlike my main desktop machines where I typically build "all european" or "all european and also CJK" - I like languages. ĸen. -- Nanny Ogg usually went to bed early.
