I like to argue :-)
Of course, almost all shared library binaries have a name of the form:
<library>.so.<version>, and <library>.so is a symlink to
<library>.so.<version> (sometimes, there is also a
<library>.so.<shortversion> symlink).

But the listing here is the following:
----------------------------
pierre [ ~ ]$ ls -l /usr/lib/*sqlc*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4295828 25 mai   11:53 /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.a
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      16 25 mai   12:07 /usr/lib/libmysqlclient_r.a ->
libmysqlclient.a
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      17 25 mai   12:07 /usr/lib/libmysqlclient_r.so ->
libmysqlclient.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      17 25 mai   12:07 /usr/lib/libmysqlclient_r.so.18
-> libmysqlclient.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      17 25 mai   12:07
/usr/lib/libmysqlclient_r.so.18.0.0 -> libmysqlclient.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      20 25 mai   12:07 /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so ->
libmysqlclient.so.18
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root      24 25 mai   12:07 /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.18 ->
libmysqlclient.so.18.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3582945 25 mai   12:05 /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.18.0.0
---------------------------
So that, for me, there is _no_ libmysqlclient_r.<whatever> library.

Now, I see what has been done for libXaw.so. Will do the same.
