Unfortunately not much to show her. 2 couples from Windsor and two family or 3 each from the Essex County area also spent some time on the tower. Weather: Clear skies, 11 - 16 C, SW winds started strong at 20 - 28 km/hr and reduced over the day to 5 km/hr. Raptor Observations: 37 Raptors of 7 species. Highlight was 4 Golden Eagles within just over a half hour starting at 10:33. Non-raptor Observations: There was little passerine movement during the day except between 8 - 9 am with 667 American Crows; 1 Northern Flicker; 300 Red-winged Blackbirds; 1,000 European Starlings with at least 1 Rusty Blackbird in the mix; and 96 Horned Larks. A flock of 11 Tundra Swans flew over in the morning and a flock of 9 Tundra Swans came in around 3 p.m. and looked like they were going to stay overnight. Great Egrets appear to be gone. 1 juvenile Black-crowned Night-Heron and 1 juvenile Pied-billed Grebe still around, as well as the usual contingent of waterfowl. Predictions: Sunny, warm with high of 17 C, winds out of SE at 7 - 17 km/hr so could be another slow migration day. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Todd Pepper ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
