A web browser will send an HTTP "Host:" header for the website it is looking for, so perhaps the web app on the BMC will only honour logins where that matches what it thinks its hostname is (or its IP address). You could test that by adding the hostname it thinks it has to your /etc/hosts and then using that hostname to access it.
