We actually had a prolonged discussion about this a month or two back Eric (check the beowulf archives for more on that), however, it was largely focused around educational usage of such a setup. That may be a good place to start. But, to (sort-of) answer your question, while it is absolutely possible to build a small cluster with them, it may or may not be possible to achieve whatever you are trying to achieve using that cluster. We'll need to know more about what you want to do with it in order to comment on whether or not that end-goal is feasible/reasonable using Raspberry Pi computers.
