-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi folks,
Apparently Iran claims to have 2 new supers, the larger at 89TF. http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9211058/Iran_claims_two_new_supercomputers Looking at the photos they look like SuperMicro boxes, some 2I with lots of disks and some that look remarkably like GPU boxes - compare this picture: http://www.mehrnews.com/mehr_media/image/2011/02/623838_orig.jpg and this SuperMicro GPU 1U box: http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/6016/SYS-6016GT-TF.cfm?GPU=TM1 They look the same to me though of course there's no way to tell if GPUs are in them, but the spacing between them does seem to imply that they kick out a fair amount of heat.. Interesting! cheers, Chris - -- Christopher Samuel - Senior Systems Administrator VLSCI - Victorian Life Sciences Computation Initiative Email: sam...@unimelb.edu.au Phone: +61 (0)3 903 55545 http://www.vlsci.unimelb.edu.au/ -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk1nN0wACgkQO2KABBYQAh9MpACbB60nnQfotRWW79+EGuzOyN3V rRIAoI9ZO0L8HZfXy/zgY+4L3Tt+wkdg =H+gH -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Beowulf mailing list, Beowulf@beowulf.org sponsored by Penguin Computing To change your subscription (digest mode or unsubscribe) visit http://www.beowulf.org/mailman/listinfo/beowulf
