The "Helmer" <http://helmer.sfe.se/> minicluster uses blender, and appears to perform well. Also, Maya's 'muster' engine runs under Linux, and quite successfully. We use it in a mixed environment, where the render pool consists of both Windows workstations and Linux cluster nodes.
