One frequent problem is that these various filesystems only support
very particular kernel versions, e.g. SLES 9sp3. And they plain don't
work with other kernels because they're too intimate with the memory
subsystem and whatnot.

So you can't use the latest stable kernel, and if there's a bug you
can't tolerate in the old version, c'est la vie.
