Is it only one Trailing white space or any trailing white space....??
If any trailing white space , then you can do
$HASH{$key} =~ s/\s+$//;
If One ...
$HASH{$key} =~ s/\s+$//;
And then you can compare
if ($HASH{$key} eq $myVariable) {
}
