G'day Craig,

More fun and games with beta2...

It's generating incomplete backups. After running a full backup, I
looked at the file counts and saw that the most recent backup has
approx 130,000 files when my hard drive has approx 2,000,000 files.

Doing a spot check in BackupPC's archive of my home directory and I
noticed that my email directory, i.e. /home/relson/Mail (full path
/var/archive/pc/osage/63/f%2f/fhome/frelson/...), isn't present.
Checking further, my home directory has 104 entries (files and
directories) while .../fhome/frelson only has 38. The counts were
generated by Command "ls -lad * | wc -l".

The beginning of XferLog.63.z reads:

full backup started for directory / (baseline backup #62)
Running: /usr/bin/ssh -q -x -l root osage /usr/bin/rsync --server
--sender --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group -D --links --hard-links
--times --block-size=2048 --recursive --ignore-times . / Xfer PIDs are
now 3265 Got remote protocol 29 Negotiated protocol version 28
Sent exclude: /dev
Sent exclude: /media
Sent exclude: /mnt
Sent exclude: /proc
Sent exclude: /sys
Sent exclude: /tmp
Sent exclude: /usr/portage/distfiles
Xfer PIDs are now 3265,3302

When I use the web interface to look at backup #63, it shows the same
38 files/directories as when I look in /var/archive/.../frelson.

Looking at the "Directory backup history" for home/relson, I find
"Mail" in backups 52 through 56 (Oct 29 to Nov 13), which are 2.1.2
backups, but not in 57 to 63 (Nov 24 to Nov 25) which are 3.0.0_beta2
backups.

'Tis possible, perhaps likely, that my experimentation to properly set
up 3.0.0 still hasn't achieved success. What additional information
do you need? Copies of the config files, logs, etc are available.

I know I've been reporting lots of problems with beta2 but I must say
I like its new features!

Regards,

David
