Both articles, however, only discuss disabling hidden administrative
shares, without addressing finding, creating or enabling them.
I've also searched the backuppc archives, and I am now wondering if
there is any solution to this problem. Thanks for any reponses.

Correction/addition: This last link purports to describe how to make
a hidden adminstrative share on Windows XP, but I don't seem to be
able to do it. The article states the following:

Hidden administrative shares that are created by the computer
(such as ADMIN$ and C$) can be deleted, but the computer re-creates
them after you stop and restart the Server service or restart your
computer. Hidden shares that are created by users can be deleted, and
they are not re-created after you restart your computer. Microsoft
Windows XP Home Edition does not create hidden administrative shares.

If I interpret this statement to indicate that Windows XP Home Edition
does not allow user creation of hidden adminstrative shares, then that
seems to explain what I am seeing. It would also mean I am stuck, since
upgrading the OS is not an option. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
