Not really. People are just stuggling with the cost. They specified something rather complex, and the MCUs and other stuff needed to support that complexity will stop PoE ever being nick and dime stuff. Single chips to do the power control have only recently become plentiful. That should make the cost a bit more reasonable, and probably make it tolerable over the next year. Don't expect to get a $25 8 port switches with PoE any time soon, though.
