Some databases though, allow you to report data out as csv files. These could
be used along with some of the new migration tools such as the data load forms
etc. to migrate between two databases..

It's a roundabout way, and doing it that way might mean that you may not be
able to export all application data with applications like CMDB, which may mean
that you would need to redo the data in such applications, especially if you
have done a load of customizations.. Customizations would be easier on other
applications to export and import, but CMDB would probably pose a challenge
since you need to build new classes using the osdriver so it creates all that
necessary backend data..

Hello All,

In my opinion if there is no functionality that ties applications from Informix
database, there are no constrains.

For example I switch back and forward between Oracle and MS SQL 2 times.

The only issue is database performance and how it easy to manage it. In my case
ARS + MS SQL 2000 Enterprise was better than ARS + ORCL 10gi Enterprise.

Subject: Conversion from Informix to SQLServer or Oracle?

Has anyone done a conversion from Informix to SQLServer? Since BMC will no
longer support Informix after 7.6.3 I need to take the leap away from Informix.

Any advice appreciated.
