This is a packaging of cygwin that is designed to work as a local X server. http://x.cygwin.com/
The directions are fairly straight forward: http://x.cygwin.com/docs/ug/cygwin-x-ug.html I've found it easier to use a Linux workstation or Linux within VMWare if a separate workstation is not available.
