I'm in a similar situation. We have Remedy ARS 6.03 patch 11, Helpdesk
4.03, and MidTier. We're about to start a big project to upgrade
everything to 7.x. 

I've been told by our support that as long as our OS's and Java are up
to date, the only thing we have that will be broken is MidTier. In our
case we only have a handful of users that use MidTier, and since our
development environment is hosed right now, I'm not planning an update
and my fingers are crossed...
