        OK, I found out why, "Domino" widget style and "gray-mod" color scheme. 
But,
curious, even when I choose plastik and the kde-default colors, the windows
still have a strange look with rounded corners, etc.. Very kde4 like.

        Cool for now, that's just stuff I'll play with later. The immediate is 
finding
out why ksplash is cratering...
