Quick comment 1: All of Apertium is GPL (v2 or v3), therefore any 
application has to offer the user a clear method to download *all* of 
the source needed to rebuild it, together with a reasonable build procedure.

Quick comment 2: GPL was a radical choice from the beginning of 
Apertium, specifically because we did not want to allow 
non-free/closed-source apps based on the Apertium engine. However, the 
current licensing prevent anyone from building proprietary and 
completely new language pair data and use the Apertium engine to run it. 
Of course, this kind of language pair should not benefit from the 
support of the Apertium community.
