ok guys, time to have a re-think. The system I am building is a point of sale system.
It may be best to buy a small linux server and then use the android tablets browsers to access the server. This begs one question, what is the current state of html5 support offered by the chrome browser on android? Does it offer features like the indexedDB and the speech input yet? Thanks for your input.
