I have researched this topic for about a week now in the hopes of not having to post here, but I think I have tried about every suggestion online at this point. I am trying to get the ADT plugin installed in Eclipse 3.6.1 (win32 on Windows XP SP3), and every time it gets stuck about half way. Sometimes it makes it to 49%, other times only to 43%. It seems the install is stuck - not the actual plugin download. When I try to install locally from the ADT ZIP file, I get the same thing: it always gets stuck where it says the following: "Fetching http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?format=xml&file=/releases/helios/201006230900/aggregate/&protocol=http&countryCode=us&timeZone=-6&format=xml " I followed the installation procedure found at http://developer.android.com/sdk/eclipse-adt.html#installing, tried all of the troubleshooting tips, reinstalled Eclipse a few times, reinstalled the Java JDK. I am using the latest JDK, and the Android SDK and ADT plugin are up-to-date - I am using the latest versions. I tried the HTTP vs HTTPS suggestion. One thing I have noticed about my install of Eclipse: some posts online suggest that in Eclipse there is an entry in the "Window" menu that lets you go straight to the Android SDK and AVD manager. This entry (Window -- Android SDK and AVD Manager) is not present in my version of Eclipse. Could this be indicative of a potential install issue somewhere? I am hoping someone has run into this before. I really would like to get started with ADT. Thanks in advance for your time and expertise.
