Hi Martin! I haven't myself encountered this issue (at least yet), but it sounds similar to the one reported at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442319
It's probably somehow related to Phonon-VLC backend, but there's still very limited information on how to reproduce available. I've been planning to have a look at various volume related issues with phonon-vlc a bit later. Could you try starting amarok with `amarok --debug-audio` and `amarok --debug` and posting the output on the related bug report? That might provide useful background information for me or anyone else inspecting the issue.
