AFAIK the Qt platform plugin influences the used icons. For i3 and others
that's probably none. Does exporting XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE make a
difference or, since you mentioned qt5ct, QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME="qt5ct"?
