If you want to try it out (and it's free, so why not), even as a goldwave user 
myself, I think Audacity has a really good system for this. You can change 
speed in various ways and affect pitch as little as possible. If you are doing 
it to music you can even input bpm of the song and then the desired bpm, and it 
will try and calculate how much to modify in order to get to your desired bpm.

Thanks Tim.  That sure did it.  Full of funny burbles but good enough to learn 
from.  And GoldWave retains the stereo separation.  The victor reader mixes it 
when it's not the normal speed.
