Also note that the back ups can only be for the LR track. Meaning that snapp off part. It doesn't work even in stereo if you use the XLRs. Maybe if you buy the snapp off with the XLRs on it.

Hi.
I had a free moment earlier today so thought I’d explore more functions of the
Zoom H6.
The H6 is one of those recorders that does exactly what it claims to do right
out of the box so connect up, turn on, arm recorder, adjust levels and press
the record button to get job underway.
With that in mind I never bothered to go through the many extra features and
functions offered me by the recorder until now.
I went into the menu system and turned on the “Backup Record” function.
Put simply when in record mode the Zoom H6 recorder makes 2 simultaneous stereo
recordings but there’s a difference between the 2 as one is recorded at a 12DB
lower level than the other thus if unexpected loud noise should make itself
present then you’ll be able to save the day by using the lower level backup.
Backup recordings can only be made in wave format and only for stereo and not
multi track recordings which is a bit of a disappointment but still far better
than nothing.
Now that I have Backup Recordings enabled I really should think about putting a
higher capacity memory card into the unit so I may go all the way up to 128GB.
