If vlc is not listed you will have to choose other and browse for the executable. Default programs is probably in control panel, whereas in Windows 10 it's in settings. You still have a search box in windows 7, so you can just type in "set default programs" there, and it should come up. You can do this from within vlc, in the simple preferences dialog. However, I'm not sure how accessible that particular area of the interface is. He preferences dialog is unfortunately a bit of a frustrating experience for screen-reader users, though things can still be done with it. Anyway, I think it's better, especially if you have Windows 10, to do this from within Windows itself rather than trying to get programs to make changes to the operating system. To answer your other question: I've had Winamp on my computer forever (and it ain't gonna get removed as I like that player) but VLC does play videos; it's just that I want VLC to come up (with this particular item) but I want Winamp to play my MP3s!
