Worldwide, 83% of people believe in God. Therefore God exists. About 50% of people believe in remote vision (clairvoyance) or some other form of ESP. Therefore it probably exists. Most scientists don't believe in ESP. Therefore they are wrong.
I'm not sure. I haven't figured out the algorithms for clairvoyance, precognition, telepathy, or telekinesis, so I left them out of my data compression programs. Precognition would be very useful when connected to an arithmetic coder, but it would require that the decompressor make exactly the same sequence of bit predictions, and reproducibility has been a big problem in ESP research. So I rely on text statistics instead. I suppose it would still work for language modeling because, like the brain, the predictions don't have to be exact. I don't think it's a conspiracy, that scientists actually know how it works but won't say, because career advancement generally depends on sharing knowledge through publications. But I could be wrong. Maybe Anthropic and OpenAI made all their researchers sign NDAs and their AIs actually do use ESP to score higher in the benchmarks. They wouldn't tell us if they did. -- Matt Mahoney, [email protected] On Sun, Oct 11, 2026, 6:27 PM John Rose via AGI <[email protected]> wrote: > We've discusses Orch OR many times on this list as it was developing. > > What’s just as interesting about remote viewing IMO isn’t people doing it > and the theories but why it has been suppressed.
