This is DC so no reason not to use a ferrite and not an actual inductor. But I’m not sure I see a problem with an inductor at that location, assuming it’s in the 48V path not the ground path. And assuming the inductor is rated for the DC current.

The whole structure and the radio chassis/ground is getting energized when the site is struck, and my understanding is that the DC lines need to be brought to the same potential by the SPDs to avoid damage.
