Play the following trick, it should help:
1. Replace all occurrences of full stop with two spaces with a full stop
and
a ssingle space. Enter the following strings (without quotes) in the Find
and Replace dialog box:
Find What: ". "
Replace With: ". "
Activate the Replace All button.
2. Now your document would contain full stops followed by one space at
all
places.
3. Replace all occurrences of full stop and one space with a full stop
and
two spaces. Enter the following strings (without quotes) in the Find and
Replace dialog box:
Find What: ". "
Replace With: ". "
Activate the Replace All button.
Note that you should use CTRL+H to open the Find and Replace dialog box.
Pressing CTRL+F would open the dialog box without the Replace
functionality.

The TAB key is supposed to behave that way. Anyway if you wish to replace
the tab character with a space character then enter "^t" without quotes
in
the Find What box. ^t represents the tab character.

Good , but I am struck at one point. I put at many places the tab, in
stead of space, now I want to replace the tab with a space, so in find
and replace dialogue I am unable to type tab in find collumn. As soon
I press tab the cursor moves to replace dialogue box!

wel you can use the feature of find and replace. in find what edit box
type
dubble space and in replace with edit box type single space, hit on
replace
all button.
