Oh sorry, I thought poll used pollset. Please do send a PR on Github if you have an alternative implementation and we'll merge it.
It should be straightforward to add another alternative with autotools (look in acinclude.m4) and cmake, but if you have any doubts don't hesitate to ask here or on IRC. Thanks!
