That's the 'new' input driver everyone should be using, it handles pretty much everything: keyboards, mice, trackpads, etc. Once that works, you may want to install a specific driver like -synaptic (most touchpads) or -wacom (tablets), if you have such hardware. The -kbd and -mouse drivers are still maintained but not recommended, as they completely bypass the kernel's input stack.
