There's a fix in xserver 1.6.x to avoid a false positive of the check
above due to pixel clock rounding errors. If that doesn't help, there
may be a bug in vt8623fb.


is that fix the one from

A specific driver for your hardware should be better than a generic
driver like fbdev anyway.
