A registration with a confirmation email is a barrier to entry. Finding the correct bugzilla is the first barrier, the registration with its random time delay is the second, the bugzilla interface with its bazillon of knobs is the third. You seem to think adding these hoops increases the quality of the bug reporting compared to the old times method of firing an email to a mailing-list. I'm curious whether you have any serious study proving it one way or another. I know that in my case the random time delay has stopped me from doing a number of bug reports on various projects.
