Hi Alex. Thanks again for responding. At the moment, everything is distro-provided ( Ubuntu-8.10 beta ) ... it's a fresh install from a nightly build, plus I updated everything to 'current' via Ubuntu's 'update-manager' ( as prompted by a panel applet ).
