might be worth putting the required bits into release.sh as well. Running a
shell script that does everything for you is probably easier than generating
everything by hand.
end result for you would be you'd just run
$> release.sh xkeyboard-config v1_9 v1_10
and the announce email, tag pushing, tarballs copying, etc. is all done for
you.
