As I read that, it's saying in effect that _each_ time you call
XLoadQueryFonts, you're reading _all_ of the available font-data using
ListFonts, and picking through it on the client.
(Obviously the paper is pointed toward promoting xrender, but it would
be nice to establish the extent to which the benchmark was designed).
although I don't think they're exactly what you're looking for. There
might be other papers/presentations though.
