This is a courtesy announcement for those reading xorg-commit. The tags you've seen on xorg-commits are tags assigned to older commits when the version for a package was bumped but no tag was assigned. Most of the packages affected have last been released for 7.1.
Tagging them in the convention we use today (modulename-version) allows automatic retrieval of the last tag, better shortlogs, etc. I'm currently going through the protocol repositories that have seen changes since the last release (i.e. all). Some are getting a cleanup to provide consistent fooproto.h naming, some are getting their xlib headers removed. I'll cut releases of the modules once that is done and tinderboxed.
