The whole fd.o is broken, so this isn't something new. If you follow The
Rules, you should probably report this to Bugzilla
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org). No need to wait for reply as you either
will never get it or your bug _could_ be handled in the next 2-3 years.

The best solution to 'https everywhere' is to add exception to fd.o
site; if that isn't possible, wget-ing the content should be enough as
there is 99.99% of text and easy parsable html; images, css, pretty
content... well, that is obsolete here.
