I guess most people don't have a colorimeter at home.
Most people who are doing color critical work will have access to a color measurement instrument, or will have some other method of ensuring the consistency and availability of accurate display characterization information (i.e. and ICC profile). [ A very good colorimeter instrument is inexpensive in the scheme of professional equipment: i.e. <https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/798930-REG/X_Rite_EODIS3_i1Display_Pro.html> ] People who do serious printing will likely have access to a spectrometer instrument of some sort to be able to measure prints, as well as better characterize their displays.
