Hi, yes, and that is actually possible with Xwayland itself, no need for Xephyr or the like although they are probably much more user-friendly. Xwayland still contains the code to run in rootful mode, so if you simply run 'Xwayland :5' or whatever unused display number, it will put up a single Wayland window which is the X11 root window. On that X11 display, you can then run a complete X11 desktop with whatever WM etc. However, the integration with the Wayland desktop is not friendly. Also this mode of Xwayland is rarely used at all, so testing is very thin. Thanks, pq
