I think we should just use the proposed license text, which comes straight from the xserver repo. So far, no-one shipping products or distributions has ever complained about it, it makes it easier to share code in a common graphics stack, and it seems like the only reason to use the other variant would be because opensource.org lists it as 'the MIT license'. I don't recall the criteria ever being the exact name of a variant of a family of licenses, but rather the actual text. HPND places the extra 'supporting documentation' requirement on distributors, whereas neither of the MIT licenses do. That's the big difference.
