Just did some tests and it seems to have fixed the crash. Thanks!
I first tried to have a near-systematic reproduction pattern by trying to
reproduce the sequence you described on wayland-devel, and managed to make it
crash in a few seconds every time.
Then I updated and tried again with the same pattern for a few minutes, and no
crash.
