Hugh, Thanks for the pointers.
I ended up being able to install 6.1.8 from SourceForge’s tarball [1,3]. However, doing so didn’t set up an /etc/init.d [2] 2.4.4 suggests to "cp initd_startup.template”, but I couldn’t find that template in the extracted tarball. Where is the best place to get that template? And, could init.d get mentioned towards the end of [3]? I ended up just stealing the init.d from another VM that I had sitting around, but I’d rather not cheat next time :-) Regards, Tim [1] http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtuoso/files/latest/download [2] http://docs.openlinksw.com/virtuoso/unxinstvirt.html [3] http://virtuoso.openlinksw.com/dataspace/doc/dav/wiki/Main/VOSUbuntuNotes On Jan 9, 2014, at 6:30 AM, Hugh Williams <hwilli...@openlinksw.com> wrote: > Hi Tim, > > Looks like your Ubuntu distro is really old if it installs the 6.0 release. > Certainly you need 6.1.6+ to have the FILTER NOT EXIST support. > > You should be able to following the steps in [3] to update the existing > debian packages to the latest, although that assumes you have base 6.1 > packages which was the version being bundled with Ubuntu at the time and so > has not been tested with 6.0, but should work also in theory ? > > The easiest way to get a latest build in my experience is to just build > directly from sources either from sourceforge or git (preferably) as detailed > at: > > http://virtuoso.openlinksw.com/dataspace/doc/dav/wiki/Main/VOSDownload > http://virtuoso.openlinksw.com/dataspace/doc/dav/wiki/Main/VOSGitUsage > > and replace the existing 6.0.x "virtuoso-t" in /usr/bin with the build from > the latest sources which is 6.1.8 ... > > Best Regards > Hugh Williams > Professional Services > OpenLink Software, Inc. // http://www.openlinksw.com/ > Weblog -- http://www.openlinksw.com/blogs/ > LinkedIn -- http://www.linkedin.com/company/openlink-software/ > Twitter -- http://twitter.com/OpenLink > Google+ -- http://plus.google.com/100570109519069333827/ > Facebook -- http://www.facebook.com/OpenLinkSoftware > Universal Data Access, Integration, and Management Technology Providers > > On 8 Jan 2014, at 15:18, Timothy Lebo <le...@rpi.edu> wrote: > >> Virtuoso, >> >> I have a set up with virtuoso-opensource-6.0 that I’d like to get FILTER NOT >> EXISTS from. >> >> What’s the easiest way to get there? >> >> [1] mentions “1.1 before 1.1” features, but not FILTER NOT EXISTS >> specifically (it focuses in UPDATE) >> [2] mentions FILTER NOT EXISTS under announcements for v6.1.6 — is that the >> answer? >> >> >> Also, I use "sudo aptitude install virtuoso-opensource” on Ubuntu to install >> virtuoso (per [3]), and it only installs 6.0. >> Is there a just-as-easy way to install later versions? >> What’s the easiest way to get to the version that I need, from the one I >> already have installed? >> >> Thanks so much. >> >> Regards, >> Tim Lebo >> >> >> [1] >> http://answers.semanticweb.com/questions/11843/does-virtuoso-versions-60-support-sparql-11 >> [2] >> http://virtuoso.openlinksw.com/dataspace/doc/dav/wiki/Main/VOSNews#2012-08-02 >> -- Announcing Virtuoso Open-Source Edition v6.1.6 >> [3] http://virtuoso.openlinksw.com/dataspace/doc/dav/wiki/Main/VOSUbuntuNotes >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ >> Rapidly troubleshoot problems before they affect your business.
