In a nutshell answer is yes.
This is one of the motivating factors behind the faceted browsing
service i.e., let developers focus on the visuals and user interaction
will the platform deals with the grunt work behind producing faceted
views over large data sets.
We are pushing hard to at least have a VOS version of 6.0 out next week.
