Hi,

I'm interested in Linked Data publishing and access to database with SPARQL. I'm
not totally clear about one point regarding Virtuoso Open-Source vs commercial
edition and I'd like to ask. Reading the doc, I have the feeling that you get
all the features in the open-source edition, except the "virtual database"
related ones (that is, querying a set of databases as if they were only one).
So, to be sure, here are my questions:

Correct.

Virtual DBMS and Replication is not part of the VOS edition.
Also you don't have:

1. SQL based SPARQL Endpoint security
2. OAuth based SPARQL Endpoint security
3. New FOAF+SSL based SPARQL Endpoint security

Re. version 6.0 you won't have:

1. Clustering feature.
I'd like to publish as linked data part of *one* existing database, and access
it with SPARQL. Is it possible with the open-source edition (without replication
of the data) ?
Only if the SQL DBMS is Virtuoso re. Open Source.
If using the commercial edition (which is available for 15 day free eval) you can make publish RDBMS data from ODBC or JDBC accessible databases as Linked Data.

If previous answer is yes:
still true with SPARUL?

SPARUL going to Quad Store only, not Virtual Triples (what you get with Linked Data from VDB layer). This is part of VOS edition.
If previous answer is yes:
same question for 2 databases, each with a separate sparql endpoint (no query
involving the 2 databases at the same time)

With physical Quad Store of virtuoso only. You can SPARUL using patterns associated with an Named Graphs.
