Hi, OpenLink Software is pleased to announce a new release of Virtuoso, Open-Source Edition, version 5.0.3.
New features by functionality realm are as follows: Web Server: HTTP 1.1-compliant transparent content-negotiation in URL-rewrite rules for Linked Data Deployment. RDF Data Management: New providers for the Jena, Sesame and Redland frameworks; support for SPARQL INSERT and UPDATE via HTTP POST; a new "rdf_sink" folder for handling HTTP PUTs into WebDAV that automatically sync with Quad Store. There are new Sponger cartridges to handle Amazon book-search, OAI and XBRL and Yahoo finance data sources. There are performance optimizations for SPARQL `DESCRIBE' and `CONSTRUCT', alongside general performance enhancements for RDF data-set loading. Core DBMS Engine: A PHP hosting a module implemented as a Virtuoso plugin as is the case with other language hosting modules; improved deadlock condtion management; enhanced the POP and FTP protocol implementations to allow larger data transfers; fixed a recursive SQL UPDATE bug, and some cursor-handling issues. ODS Application Suite: Includes the use of the OAT based enhanced anchor (<a>++) tag feature for related linked data lookups, the ability to reorder tabs on the main menu navigation bar, HTTPS support, LDAP-based verification for FOAF support, the SCOT tag-cloud ontology and support for OpenSocial APIs enabling additional interoperability with other social networking platforms. There have been fixes to search and ATOM gems. URLs have been replaced with dereferencable SIOC dataspace URIs.
