the machine is a powerbook (PPC/32Bit CPU/2 GB Ram).

You did not have to use libtool from darwinports as the glibtool from the Apple development package is good enough.

i installed it because i was a little but confused about the required versionnumbers of required packages for building
the server.

For Mac OS X Universal builds, we will package a special version of the libtool command with a couple of modifications, untill such time that Apple fixes their code base.

packages at least for your official supported platforms?

Yes we will produce binary installations for our official supported platforms. This will be announced later on our virtuoso-announce mailing list.
