the item is to execute a bash command from the Ex command line. I know only 
the "filter" command:

!sh -c "echo \"abc # def\" "

# is expanded to a filename, only backslash helps.

if no command exists for inhibiting expansion by vim, how can I 
automaticalally quote all '#' in a long command in the Ex command line. In 
my version of vim (8.0 2016 Sep 12) editing Ex command line is very poor.
